NICE’S NEWER DC BLUE OPTIONS
Both appear in Nice’s South African catalogue. These are model references, not a promise of stock; suitability and supply are confirmed when quoting.
NEWER OVERHEAD PLATFORM
A newer residential overhead operator with a lithium battery system. Ask about the correct tip-up or sectional belt-drive configuration.
NEWER ROLL-UP PLATFORM
A dedicated roll-up operator with an absolute encoder for position control and a separate controller. It is not an overhead sectional opener.
ESTABLISHED DC BLUE OPERATORS
The original Advanced family has different ratings and door applications. We identify the motor first, then discuss repair, replacement or confirmed new supply.
ESTABLISHED OVERHEAD MODEL
The compact Advanced-family option for compatible spring-balanced domestic garage doors. Identify the exact head unit and drawbar before replacement.
ESTABLISHED OVERHEAD MODEL
The higher-capacity Advanced option for suitable larger domestic doors. Door condition, drawbar and force requirements must still be checked.
SECTIONAL-DOOR MODEL
Designed for faster travel on compatible sectional doors. Do not apply the Pico or standard Advanced tip-up compatibility to this model.
OLDER ROLL-UP MODEL
The older DC Blue roll-up arrangement with a separate control box. For replacement enquiries, assess the existing hardware and compare the newer Absolute.
OLDER / DISCONTINUED / HARD-TO-FIND MOTORS
If your DC Blue is no longer supplied, we assess whether a suitable repair is possible. Parts availability, the fault and the condition of the door determine the recommendation.

Not labelled as universally discontinued here because the manufacturer still lists the family. New supply and compatible spares are checked individually.
Identify the installed generation before ordering parts. For an older roll-up system, the newer Absolute may be considered after a compatibility assessment. Digital and Plus are not presented here as new-installation choices.
DOOR TYPE / MODEL / DUTY CYCLE
A suitable operator depends on how the door opens, its dimensions, spring balance, mounting space and frequency of use. A bigger motor cannot correct a faulty mechanism.
The residential DC Blue range should not be confused with Nice’s separate commercial sectional or roller-shutter operator families.
Nice manufacturer range ↗Astute, Advanced, Pico and Hi-Speed have sectional applications within their model-specific limits. Match the correct drawbar and door height.
Astute, standard Advanced and Pico have compatible trackless tip-up applications. Hi-Speed is specified for sectional overhead use, so it must not be selected on the assumption that all Advanced models fit the same doors.
Absolute and Advanced Roll-Up are dedicated roll-up models. The controller, motor position, curtain type and door balance need to suit the particular installation.

Obstruction detection needs correct commissioning and a well-balanced door. Appropriate safety beams are required for autoclose and must be checked during handover.
The range uses ET-family rolling-code controls, with compatibility dependent on the receiver. We verify the exact format instead of describing any system as impossible to compromise.
The Absolute roll-up operator tracks programmed door positions using its encoder. It should not be confused with the older Advanced Roll-Up controller and limit arrangement.
DC BLUE MOTOR REPAIRS / GAUTENG

Supply, charging, battery health and control-board faults may need checking. A worn battery and a failed motor can present differently on different generations.

Ask about your motor ↗The door mechanism comes first. Astute, Advanced and Pico have overhead applications, while Hi-Speed is specified for compatible sectional overhead doors. Absolute and Advanced Roll-Up are dedicated residential roll-up operators. The correct rail, door balance, dimensions and installation conditions must also be checked.
We do not describe the whole range as discontinued. Nice still lists the Advanced family on its South African garage-automation page. Some supplier listings differ, so new supply and replacement availability must be confirmed for the exact model before a quotation is accepted.
Send a clear photograph of the motor label and the full door mechanism. A discontinued or older model may still be repairable if suitable parts are available. If replacement is needed, we check the complete installation rather than assume that a newer motor fits the old hardware.
No. Absolute is the newer dedicated roll-up model with absolute-encoder position control. Advanced Roll-Up is an older roll-up arrangement. Controllers, motor heads and wiring must not be treated as interchangeable without a compatibility check.
The manufacturer’s range brochure specifies the Advanced Hi-Speed for sectional overhead doors. Pico and standard Advanced have separate sectional and trackless tip-up applications. Confirm the exact model before choosing or replacing an operator.
The operating arrangement depends on the model. The older Advanced family describes mains operation with battery reserve, while newer models have their own battery systems. Backup performance depends on battery condition, charge, door load and outage duration; no unlimited cycle count is promised.
We can assess an older installation, but repair depends on the fault, the condition of the door and compatible parts. Digital, Plus and other older versions should be identified separately from the models shown for new installation enquiries.
The DC Blue models shown here are domestic garage-door operators. Nice Soon, Sumo and RS 500 are separate operator families for different applications. A commercial or industrial door needs its own suitability and duty-cycle assessment.
Yes. Autoclose must be commissioned with the appropriate safety-beam protection in line with the exact model’s instructions. Obstruction sensing is not a substitute for required safety equipment.
